January 1971 Ensign Part 1

Message from the First Presidency.

When you truly love, you will receive in return. In the days when Joseph Smith lived, other churches asked him why he was able to follow him even with all of the suffering they were going through. He responded  saying “because I possess the principle of love. Also I can offer the world a good heart and a good hand.”

God’s Kingdom: A Kingdom of Order.

The principles of the Lord Jesus Christ are divine.

And the Deaf Shall Hear.

This is a story about a child that had a life goal of becoming a missionary but had been told it may be hard due to his handy cap. Here is apart of the article.

Clarke, our second son, has had a lifelong goal of serving a mission for the Church, but because he has been deaf since birth, we felt that this was not a realistic goal. As we tried to explain to him that it might not be possible for him to fill a mission, he sometimes answered, “You have taught me all my life to have faith;now where is your faith?”

Because of this child’s faith the church now offers opportunities for people with hearing issues to be missionaries in the church.

The Church and It’s Magazines.

This section speaks about the history of the church’s magazines as of 1972.

“On April 19, 1843, the Prophet Joseph Smith was giving instructions to the Twelve. To Brother Taylor he said:“John Taylor, I believe you can do more good in the editorial department than preaching. You can write for thousands to read; while you can preach to but a few at a time. We have no one else we can trust the paperwith. …” (DHC 5:367.) “

Gospel Forum.

“And if a person gains more knowledge and intelligence in this life through his diligence and obedience than another, he will have so much the advantage in the world to come.” (D&C 130:18–19.

The Women’s Movement: Liberation or Deception?

“Error, sin, lust, envy, and evil thrive in the midst of today’s prosperity. More than $5 million a year is spenton pornographic literature by which vile men try to “diggold out of dirt.” Magazines, movies, television programs, and other mass media are utilized to lower moral standards and behavior. Crime and spiritual values are questioned. Our interests are centered in ourselves. We are preoccupied with material things. Many of us are more concerned about conquering space than about conquering ourselves. We are more dedicated to material securitythan to inner purity. We give much more thought to what we wear, what we eat, what we drink, and what we can do to relax than we give to what we are.”

I never really thought about all of these issues being in the 1970’s. Being a child of the 80’s I thought all of these issues started in the mid 90’s when I started to see these things unfold.

“From the beginning, the Prophet Joseph Smith recognized the importance of organizing the women of the Church “through the order of the priesthood.” As he did so, the Prophet declared: “… and I now turn the key in your behalf in the name of the Lord, and this Society shall rejoice, and knowledge and intelligence shall flow down from this time henceforth. …” (History of the Church 4:607.) “

Life Update

Last time I made a blog post I was living in Charlotte, North Carolina. My family and i moved back to Klamath Falls, Oregon March of 2015. Since our move I took a break from blogging and going to church. I was burnt out of going to church. There are many reasons why but I will not post them today. Two weeks before Christmas we started attending our original ward which is the First Ward in the Klamath Falls Branch.

To be honest we attended our old Christian Church many times through out our return to town. The reason is because we were trying to figure out if we wanted continue our path in the LDS church. One night we prayed together as a family. We asked God if he would show us an answer as to which church we should go to. Yeah I know that it sounds very LDS-ish but we really had a hard time figuring out how we felt about the subject. The next 24 hours were crazy.

My wife and I both woke up with a message in our Facebook Messenger. Two members from our Charlotte Ward messaged us to see how we were doing. From March until late December we have not heard a word from any members. After these we had a few more members from various locations reach out to us. Again we had zero contact with members since we left back in March.

I have been doing a lot of You Tub viewing about the church. Yes I have viewed things linked to the church and non church videos. I am not afraid to research and try to balance both sides. I am kind like Kylo Ren in the new Star Wars movie. I am pulled by both side of the force or in this case Theology. Now that I have been praying, reading and You Tubing I have decided that 2016 I will be my year of rebuilding my personal and spiritual life.

I plan to do something different this time. I will only research and view things that are Pro Mormon. I have researched more of the anti- Mormon stuff than the things defending it. Many of my blog posts will be my journey through Building a Better Me.

My 21 Theses Against Dunderheads

Someone from The Christ Presbyterian Church created a 95 Theses against us Latter Day Saints. Someone posted it here on Word Press. Then a member of the LDS Church posted it in a LDS Facebook group. This created a lot of people defending their faith and church. So I commented on the bloggers page. He responded and all I could see was a guy that was upset with the church. He was a member at one time and saw a lot of negative things. He also doesn’t like the fact that the LDS Church calls his church an abomination. Yes at one point that was stated by someone within the history of the church,. I understand why he was upset. So I felt lead to create 21 Theses Against Dunderheads. I am not slamming this guy at all in this. I am writing to anyone that needs to stop attacking people in the name of God and start loving on people. I tried to be funny in some of this but I am very serious about this post. I welcome positive comments. I want to know your thoughts on how people treat each other.

Much Love,

Steve Voe-

1. Jesus is and can be your buddy Christ!

2.This may sound cheesy but Its not about having a religion. Its about having a relationship with Jesus Christ.

3. Don’t hate the player. Hate the game. People are trying to find who they are as a person. If they find happiness and it doesn’t hurt you personality…. let it go…..

4. Remember the words of your teacher, your master. Evil moves fast but good moves faster. Satan wants noting more than for us to fall. Remember you are a new creation once you except Jesus as your Lord and the enemy hates that.

5. Do on to others as you would have them do on to you. The golden rule only applies when you act in love and kindness. If you want to be treated like crap then keep it to yourself.

6. John 3:16 John 3:16 John 3:16 and revert to number 1 🙂

7. Don’t trust a topless bar that is open for 3 hours a night.

No theology here. Just some helpful advise.

8. How dare you think that you know more about someone else’s belief in God!

9. Same sex marriage does not hurt you personality. Keep calm and respect one another.

10. Most of us have at least one demon hiding in the closet. If you don’t have one then be on the look out. Sounds harsh? Get over it we are all human which makes us ALL sinners before God.

11. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints do have a laundry list of crazy things in their history. Before you go and cast judgment on the members of today you should stop and Goggle your own churches history. Chances are you will decide to rethink your church bashing.

12. Forgiveness is divine but never pay full price for late pizza. This may not apply as much today but if your pizza is really late or wrong you better contact the store to get a credit or your order done over.

13. Stop picking on the Mormon faith. Your target should be the newest Pope. Evolution is now what the Pope feels is correct and that the Big Bang Theory is also the new thing. He even said that God is not like a wizard and cannot do magical things. … yeah I know right?!

14. If you do not call upon any deity don’t try to tell someone they are wrong. If someone tries to convert you after you have told them no you should tell them to get lost.

15. If you call upon a deity don’t push it on someone else that has already made it clear that they are happy where they are.

16. The Mormons have temples. They uses them to make covenants with God for the most part. What is so wrong with that?

17. Joseph Smith was just a man. Kinda like you. Ouch

18. Speaking of Joseph Smith. He is God’s prophet. Slam him all you want but do your think the Old Testament prophets were perfect people? Nope they were human too.

19. The Book of Revelation says to not and or take away anything from the book. John was talking about the Revelation and not the Bible.

20. The Book of Mormon. We need no more Bible. We have a Bible. The Book of Mormon is just another testament of Jesus Christ. It even says it on the book cover these days. As for other books. Yes the Bible has 66 books. Well did you know that there are a ton of other books that were left out by the people that created the Bible? Once again Google is your best friend.

21. When people like Billy Graham speak or write books many Christians eat that up like he is the voice of God. Thomas S. Monson is just as connected to God as Billy Graham. Maybe you should listen to one of his messages.

Fall General Blog 14

The Lord has laid on my heart to share this word with you. The Latter Day Saints are holding their fall General Conference this weekend. So I felt led to share with you that God loves everyone.

He doesn’t care what you look like, who your attracted to or even what church you attend. What He cares about is you. He wants you to trust in Him and not in the religious actions done by people.

Jesus didn’t tell the tax collector to stop doing his job. He didn’t walk outside of the temple walls and call every person out for their sins or sickness. Jesus went and showed us how to live our lives.

The religious teachers were more worried about keeping their place as High Priests so they abused their power and the teachings of Moses. They forgot how to love. Don’t be the religious teachers. Be like Jesus and love as He does.

For the record I am not trying to say that the LDS church is like the religious teachers. I can see someone asking this question.  I just felt that the church was holding a conference so I would blog to prepare people and myself for it.

I invite you to listen to apart of the conference this weekend if you have never taken the time to watch it. You do not need to be a member of the church.  This is a good time to learn more about the church. Don’t take other people’s words and thoughts about Mormons. Take the time to educate yourself before judging other people’s church and way of life.

Disinformation and Education

Disinformation is something that every person that lives on social media should be on the look out for. People love to take a small part out a story and make it sound worse than it actually does.

This Fox News story is a perfect example. The Facebook page “Tea Party Patriots” posted a picture and quick story of how kids in a South Carolina school were in trouble for flying an American flag on September 11 on their cars.

A friend of mine shard this story and was very upset. People that commented on this page were also upset.  I am all about being patriotic.  I am also all about obeying the laws within reason. The school has rules that no flags ever could be placed on a  car and they non longer wave any flags at the school because kids would get carried away.

I’m sure that one of the reasons why is because the Carolinas along with other states in the south have a rich history with color racism.  Redneck kids and adults would fly American and Confederate flags on their trucks and would drive around and do stupid stuff.
So next time you see a post on social media please do your homework and educate yourself before you wreck yourself. ……

Abusing the Gospel

Here is a post I made on Facebook asking how do I come to terms of being gay and Mormon. If you feel that I am out of context or if I am on to something feel free to Comment.

” Well I would think that first you would need to come to terms with who you are as a person first. Religion should not make the person. Religion is a choice. That is why Heavenly Father gave us agency or free will to choose how we live. Who we are is what is built in us. IF being attracted to the same sex is where your life brings you then you need to except that even if others dont. God is all knowing and He knows you better than you do. So however God created you live in that. Straight, bi or otherwise.  Then you choose which path way to the father YOU feel is right. Worship where and how you choose. The haters can kick rocks!  God will judge the people that abuse the gospel … coming from a Mormon.. “

NFL and Mankind

So I’m kind of over all the drama in the NFL right now. There is so much going on. Players and higher ups are starting to show that they are in fact HUMAN after all.

Can you believe that? The modern age football gods have been cut and have shown blood. Metaphorically speaking of course. I am not going into all of what the players and league officials
have done. They get enough of the spot light as it is.

What I will address is that at the end of the day we are all human. No matter what our status in life is. We all have feelings and we all have a heart. We should learn to love each other as ourselves and share love to everyone no matter who we are.

If your walking down the street say hello to someone. That is a good way to change the outlook of someone’s day. If you have anger with someone take a few moments before you decided to tell them how it is. If someone believes or lives a different lifestyle than you take the time to get to know the person and don’t focus on their way of life.

Stop the hate and stop lying to yourselves.  Be honest with people and be real. Nobody wants to feel beaten up so please show some respect to one another.

Thanks for taking the time to read this post. Much love.
