Jesus will return on this day.

Second Thessalonians 2:1-4

1 Now, dear brothers and sisters, let us clarify some things about the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and how we will be gathered to meet him. 2 Don’t be so easily shaken or alarmed by those who say that the day of the Lord has already begun. Don’t believe them, even if they claim to have had a spiritual vision, a revelation, or a letter supposedly from us. 3 Don’t be fooled by what they say. For that day will not come until there is a great rebellion against God and the man of lawlessness is revealed—the one who brings destruction. 4 He will exalt himself and defy everything that people call god and every object of worship. He will even sit in the temple of God, claiming that he himself is God.

No man knows the day or time of the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. This is true. There are a lot of scriptures that point this out. I had never really read from Second Thessalonians before so when I did the spirit spoke to me. First in verse two where it talks about having spiritual visions, revelations or letters written by the early church. If someone like Billy Graham, T.D. Jakes or Joel Osteen were to say that the end of the world will happen on this day and on this time many would believe them because people see them as people that have a special relationship with the Father. They could be right but according to this letter from Paul people should not to be scared for the day in question.

Now let us move on to verse four because my spirit really spoke to me in this verse. He will exalt himself and defy EVERYTHING that people call god and EVERY object of worship. This means your iPad, Android, the internet and even entertainment. Anything that takes focus away from God is concerned a god. So for the man of lawlessness to take away the worship from all these things is crazy. Everything that is worshiped on this earth will no longer be worshiped and he will make worship reserved only for him. So people say that the antichrist is already here. Some say it is President Obama but no one has been able to claim that he or anyone else is this man.

So we should just be still and know He is God and wait until the day that someone says I am god and sits in the temple of God. This is when we will know the antichrist has arrived. So no more of this bull butter about when the end will happen and that Obama is the antichrist. Let go and let God!

The Bible and the Duck

As I am sitting on my couch writing this section for the Book of Stevo I really have to think back to the first time I heard that having a relationship with the same sex was wrong. I find myself drawing a blank. I do remember growing up I would hear about it on TV and and in church. I really did not know how I felt on this topic. What I did know is if I were to say it was wrong I would have been lying to myself. I say this because as any normal red blooded male I really liked to watch two women making out and so on. I am just being honest here. When I realised that this was an issue I had come to the conclusion that i needed to not judge differently two guys in the same manner.

In the case of two people loving each other and having feelings that they could not live without each other is another story. Personally I find no fault in two people that love each other being a couple, raising a child together or even getting married. Does it really effect how I live my life? I mean does their actions affect my personal life?  What they do in the bedroom is not of my business just as what I do in my bedroom is none of your business. I may have offended my Christian readers but I felt the need to express this point. Now let me get to the subject of this section.

This section I am writing was spawned by the whole Phil Robertson interview drama that is all over the media and internet. I have never seen the show and I most likely never will. In the next chapter of this section I will spend more time on the whole topic. As we all know the Christian Church as a whole has a lot to fight about but almost all of them can agree that being homosexual is a sin and God condemns them for it. Where in the world does it say this in the Bible? I have always wondered this. I have heard many people quote Bible verses but they were unclear and maybe even misinterpreted. Now let us see what the Bible says about all of this.

The Book of Leviticus in the Old Testament has a few verses that speak about men not sleeping with other men. Leviticus 18:22 NKJV says “You shall not lie with a male as with a woman. It is an abomination. Also in Leviticus 20:13 NKJV says “if a man lies with a male as he lies with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination. They shall surely be put to death. Their blood shall be upon them. So in the Old Testament it was viewed an abomination to lie with the same sex. Old Testament laws such as the blood sacrifices and food and drink laws ended once Jesus was crucified on the cross but was sleeping with the same sex one of those? Is there any mention of this controversial topic in the New Testament? Let us review a few texts.

1 Corinthians 6:9–10 NKJV says “Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived.Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, 10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. Also in Romans 1:26-28 says  For this reason God gave them over to degrading passions; for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural,  27 and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their errr. 28 And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God any longer, God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do those things which are not proper.

According to these two verses alone it looks like Paul was writing to the churches not to give in to the sexual desires of this world. I feel that there was more to the story in Romans when Paul says God gave them over to a depraved mind. Since Paul knew what was going I would be willing to bet that these actions were done out in the open and worse than just normal sexual actions. Also I believe that Christians have become lukewarm when it comes to morality because divorce and sex before marriage seems to have been placed on the back burner and homosexuality has taken over on the sin radar. When you see Christians in the news protesting what are they protesting the most? You see protesters around Gay Pride conventions and at voting locations when a bill to pass Same Sex Marriage is on the ballot.

I feel there is always two sides to every story. As a Christian I guess I am always to take the side of the Christian view no matter what. I have been called out by one of my Christian friends about always taking the opposite side of Christian views. Listed below is a Facebook conversation with my friend that I will call Jerry. The name has been changed to protect the innocent. Ok I love Dragnet and needed to say that line for a long time. This conversation with Jerry really opened my mind about my views on faith. I mean no disrespect to my friend and he gave me permission to share this conversation. I posted a comment on one of his Pro Duck Dynasty posts basically asking what the big deal was. Here is where the messenger conversation started.

Jerry: Wow You never cease to amaze me, Steve! Anytime Christians are attacked you join the attack! Why? I mean, you really, really amaze me!

Me: I just see more than one side on somethings. I am not saying A&E was in the right…. they fired him for answering questions that were not even on their show. That is not right. I just wish people could see that Phil made the decision to answer those questions. Then again as the memes have said they should not have asked a 70 year old guy from the sticks his views if they didnt want an answer..

Me: IDK Jerry. I just wonder how much stuff is done to take our minds off of other things,,,, kinda like false flag ish stuff for government to do things when people are focused on other events. not that i believe in false flag stuff it just i am trying to figure it all out.

Jerry: Well, I said the same thing myself! – I would wonder why they asked me about the whole gay thing! I’ve had people ask me why I serve the Lord and answered with a question – I asked them if they REALLY wanted to know, or if they were looking for a fight! These are not stupid people, but people who are just going through the motions, giving interviews, taking every chance to promote the show, at walk in that fame, giving glory to God. they’re not professional preachers, with a wise team watching out for spiritual assassins, etc. They probably will now!

Jerry: But, in the end, if someone asks me what I think about what the bible says about homosexuality I would definitely tell them what I think AND what the bible says – AND what I think what the bible says about it!

Jerry: THEY – gay and lesbian people are NO different than anyone else that sins in this world.

Me: Very True

My friend Jerry posts a lot about defending the faith and fighting against attacks on the Christian faith. So when I post being for things like Same Sex Marriage I guess I am taking the wrong side. I understand that we as Christians are to defend the faith. I also understand that we are to love each other and love my neighbor as myself. I do not see being hateful as a way to get a Christian point across. After having a longer conversation with Jerry he said something that really hit home with me.

Jerry: In the end I am responsible to answer to God for what I did with what he told me to do with his word and did I love the people the way he told me to! Every person who claims to be a “christian” will have to do the same.

Jerry: Yes, Steve! Jesus spent much time with people that needed salvation – he NEVER condoned what they were doing – he ALWAYS spoke to them about a way to heaven – and the ONLY way to heaven! That’s it! Nothing more! He talked about hell! Who it was for and yes, he spoke against religious hypocrites.

In the above conversation the spirit hit me saying that I needed to focus on. I needed to keep working on my faith and live out my faith the way Jesus would want me to. Be the light of the world that is spoken of in the book of Matthew. Share God with people and love them just as He does. I should not try to tell people how to live their lives or to even judge because this is the job of the Almighty God. I guess I had always felt this way but never had a confirmation that this should be my theology until now. I will continue to have my personal views because that is my right and God wants us to have our own views and choose our own ways. This is one of the reasons why we are here isn’t it?

So how do I feel about the whole Duck Dynasty drama? Well I feel that Phil had the right to answer the question. I also believe that he had to know that the answers he gave about homosexuals would come back to bite him in butt. I do have a question. Why don’t people point out that the reporter had to be gunning for him? The interviewer had to know that that the question could harm him. Well in the end the publicity for both show and network have been a public relations manager’s dream come true. There is promotion from both the mainstream and Christian markets which is a hard thing to do. Don’t worry about Phil because he will have many more jobs from all this for standing for what he believes in.

What is December 25th Really About?

So when you think about Christmas I am sure you think of Santa, the Christmas tree and the birth of Jesus Christ. What if I were to tell you that Jesus Christ really wasn’t born on December 25th. Would you continue to read or just move on?  Well I feel the need to write about this subject after my friend and editor Andie gave me the topic.

There are various Pagan religions that have similarities to a saviour such as Jesus Christ. Many claim that Jesus was just a copy and paste for Orthodox Christianity. The example I am going to use is the Egyptian Sun god Horus.  Below I will present a list that is listed that compares Horus to Jesus Christ. These claims have been taken from the YouTube movie Zeitgeist: Jesus Christ Exposed. I will provide a link to the references I used to obtain this information.

  1. Born on December 25th

  2. Born of a virgin

  3. Birth was accompanied by a star in the east

  4. After his birth was adored by three kings

  5. Teacher at 12

  6. Baptized/Ministry at 30

  7. Had 12 disciples he traveled about with

  8. Performing miracles: 8a. healing the sick, 8b. walking on water

  9. Known by many names: “Lamb of God”, “The Truth”, “God’s begotten(?) Son”, “The Light”, “The good Shepard”

  10. After being betrayed:

  11. was crucified

  12. Dead-for 3 days

  13. Resurrected

As you can see, Jesus Christ has had a lot of flack over the course of history. It would take me a long time to cover each of these statements but I will cover our topic of December 25h. The Bible, Torah, Book of Mormon or even the Quran never claim a birth date for Jesus. There are some passages in the Bible that we can read that can give us a better idea of when Jesus was born. Let us start in the Gospel according to Luke.

In Luke it speaks of the birth of John the Baptist. What does John the Baptist birth have to do with the birth of Jesus? He has everything to do with his birth. John the Baptist was born to foretell the coming of the messiah. Luke 1:76-77 NKJ says  “And you, child, will be called the prophet of the Highest. For you will go before the face of the Lord to prepare His ways. To give knowledge of salvation to His people by the remission of their sins.

There is another part in Luke that I feel is important is that John the Baptist was born 6 months before Jesus Christ. Luke 1:24-27 NKJV says “Now after those days his wife Elizabeth conceived; and she hid herself five months, saying, Thus the Lord has dealt with me, in the days when He looked on me, to take away my reproach among people. Now in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth,to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. The virgin’s name was Mary. “

So now we know that John’s mother Elizabeth went to be with Mary 6 months after she was told she was going to give birth to John. Gabriel was sent to tell Mary she was going to give birth to Jesus. I have mentioned these two birth announcements to talk about John’s father Zacharias. If we do some research on Zacharias then we will come closer to the real time frame of the birth of Jesus Christ. Zacharias was a priest that served in the temple during the reign of King Herod according to Luke 1:5. King Herod’s reign was from 37 to 4 BC. In his final years, Herod ordered

the death of all children from the age of two and under killed. This is known as the “Massacre of the Innocents” which is spoken of in Matthew 2:16 which says “Then Herod, when he saw that he was deceived by the wise men, was exceedingly angry; and he sent forth and put to death all the male children who were in Bethlehem and in all its districts, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had determined from the wise men.”

Since the common idea of King Herod’s death was close to 4 BC one could say that the birth of Jesus Christ would have been no later than 4BC. It is amazing how history can sometimes break down the events in the Bible. Since I am on the subject of history I would like to share with you text from an article from History.com that gives a rundown on why we observe Christmas on December 25th. Some of this information might be hard to except. I really want people to think about what they believe and what they are told. So here is the text from the article on history.com titled “Why is Christmas Celebrated on December 25th”

“Most Christians today probably can’t imagine Christmas on any other day than December 25, but it wasn’t always that way. In fact, for the first three centuries of Christianity’s existence, Jesus Christ’s birth wasn’t celebrated at all. The religion’s most significant holidays were Epiphany on January 6, which commemorated the arrival of the Magi after Jesus’ birth, and Easter, which celebrated Jesus’ resurrection. The first official mention of December 25 as a holiday honoring Jesus’ birthday appears in an early Roman calendar from 336 A.D.

But was Jesus really born on December 25 in the first place? Probably not. The Bible doesn’t mention his exact birthday, and the Nativity story contains conflicting clues. For instance, the presence of shepherds and their sheep suggest a spring birth. When church officials settled on December 25 at the end of the third century, they likely wanted the date to coincide with existing pagan festivals honoring Saturn (the Roman god of agriculture) and Mithra (the Persian god of light). That way, it became easier to convince Rome’s pagan subjects to accept Christianity as the empire’s official religion.

The celebration of Christmas spread throughout the Western world over the next several centuries, but many Christians continued to view Epiphany and Easter as more important. Some, including the Puritans of colonial New England, even banned its observance because they viewed its traditions—the offering of gifts and decorating trees, for example—as linked to paganism. In the early days of the United States, celebrating Christmas was considered a British custom and fell out of style following the American Revolution. It wasn’t until 1870 that Christmas became a federal holiday.”

So after reading all of this message I would like to challenge anyone that believes in Jesus Christ to make their walk with Him an all year round kind of thing. Don’t wait until the Christmas season to decided to start showing your I love Jesus and he is the reason for the season blah of doom. I am not saying that is bad to do at Christmas time. Many people dread the Christmas season for various reasons and people really need to feel the love of God but that too is an all year round kind of thing.

Thank you for taking the time to read this Book of Stevo message. I really do care for all of you. If you ever need to talk or have a topic you are struggling with please connect with me. I am a down to earth and real person. I am not some preacher that will condemn you. My baggage and junk is just as crazy as the average joe. I will leave all my social media accounts at the end of this message along with the link to my research on December 25th. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Join the All Star Team of Doom Today!

What is the big deal anyway? I believe Mormons and Christians are on the same team.  When you look at both of these groups they have a lot in common. Both of them care about humanity and minister to people. Both believe in God, Jesus and the Holy Ghost. Both believe in free will or free agency.  Don’t get lost in the terminologies because in the end it is the same being. Most of all both churches preach Christ crucified. So in these last days why can’t Christians and Mormons get along? We play the same sport and even in the same league. If we were to come together and create the All Star team of Doom we could reach people for Christ in a more powerful way.

Mormons should not get upset at Christians for trying to convert them. All they are doing is what they know best. Denominations have had this ongoing battle of which church is the right one for a long time now.  Joseph Smith even had this problem which is why he prayed so hard for the answers. The TD Jakes and Billy Grahams of his time were going around telling people their church was right and all others were wrong. This has been a battle that the Devil has been winning for ages. All he wants is for us to fail and become like him. All he cares about is taking God’s children away from Him because he made a decision to be a punk and wants people to hang with him for eternity.

Now am I saying that Mormons and Christians should drop all their doctrines and find a new way of life? No I am not because to each their own. Why do I say that? Well every single one of us has our own story on how we came to the loving arms of Jesus and our understanding of God. It’s like the Gospel accounts in Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. Each book has its similarities and differences.  Just view each book as different sides to the story just like different witnesses of a car wreck. I believe nobody should ever forget their upbringing when it comes to their faith in God and Jesus. Some people over the years come to different conclusions of their faith and others embrace what they know and rock with that they got.

Like Professor Horace Slughorn from Harry Potter says, “These are mad times we live in” so why in the bloody hell are we fighting each other? Stop this madness and let’s reach out to people and talk to them about Jesus and tell them that people love them.  I hope we all can just love on people and be real with them. Non-believers see how we act. If we are fighting amongst one another no wonder they don’t want anything to do with Jesus. We are the light of the world for God so we should be shining bright and not doing dub step light flickering.

See this is the beauty of writing this book. I do not claim to be under a church to where I have to word how I write subject matter according to a list of guidelines. . I can say how I feel and if you don’t like it you can stop reading at any time. Even though I am a Christian and I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints I do not label myself and Mormon or Christian in the sense of defining my religion. I am a follower of Jesus Christ and I believe in God.

Now that you know where I strand I will leave chapter with this thought. There are so many views on God. Jesus says I am the way, the truth and the life and nobody gets to the Father but through me. Any faith that claims the Bible is a guild line for their faith should believe this statement and unite. If we cannot unite and be that All Star Team of Doom then maybe we need to find a new sport.

The 5 W’s of your Beliefs

Growing up all I knew about religion was having the conversations with my mother, grandma and people at the churches we attended. Now I know there are so many different thoughts and beliefs in this world yet I do not know much about them. So I was asked by my friend Sarah to research religions with similar believes. I have found in my research that I believe the religions Judaism, Christianity, Catholic, LDS (Mormons), Islam, Hare Krishna, Gnosticism, Jehovah’s Witnesses and Wiccan fit the bill.  I am sure there are others but these really jumped out at me.

All of the religions listed above believe in one or more gods. Most of them also have an afterlife, various living practices and rules or books to live by.  There are so many avenues to believe in god how does one decide which way is right? It seems like evil has no set religion not even Satanism. People that feel the need to be evil are just that way without any form of religion guiding that belief. Why does god get the different avenues to him yet evil has only one way in essence? Is one religion more right than others? Only you can choose the five W’s of your beliefs. Who and what do you believe in? Where did you come up with the decision to follow this belief? When did you choose to believe it and most importantly why did you in the first place? There is an old saying that all religions point to the same god.

If god really is the same in every religion then what is the point of having so many different believes to get to him? Christians, Catholics, Mormons and Jehovah’s Witnesses believe that the only way to God is through Jesus Christ. This is one way to answer that question but what about the religions that do not have a Jesus Christ like figure to lead one back to god? Is a belief in god and living a good life the way to return to god? Are we meant to return to god? This whole god concept can get crazy. So I really see how people just want to focus on their lives until they have a life altering experience or until they die.

My only question is what about the religions that do not believe in a god or any kind of Supreme Being. It is hard for me to believe that there is no higher god and that everything we can see and feel are just here by chance. Why would this happen? It just does not make since to me. So at the end of the day we all have common factor in life and that is we all are humans living in a crazy world. The rest is up to us to figure out. The LDS believe this is the reason why we are here. We were all sent here to learn about ourselves and to choose to live our lives the way we want. Live to love God or live life like he doesn’t exist. This is one of the reasons why my wife and I decided to join the LDS church. We felt there is more to our pre-life, current life and after life on Earth. Remember only you can choose the five W’s of your beliefs!
